The responsibility of the Logistics Wind Planner is to work closely with the Projects Resource Planner for the Wind Team regarding the assignment of logistics trucks on the wind projects and to develop and maintain relationships with wind carriers in order to effectively execute projects.

Education and Experience

  1. Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college and at least two years related experience in the transportation industry.
  2. A good understanding of logistics, transportation principles, procedures, and working knowledge of flatbed, specialized, and over-dimensional freight handling and related equipment usually gained through 2-5 years of formal training in a related area and/or equivalent experience in the transportation industry.
  3. Routing and dispatch experience preferred.
  4. Strong ability to network and build relationships.
  5. Strong ability to plan, organize and align work with all parties.
  6. The ability to think creatively and be resourceful.
  7. The ability to work in a fast paced environment.
  8. Ability to cope with high stress work volumes.
  9. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) required.
  10. Excellent communication skills (written, listening and verbal).
  11. Willing and able to travel infrequently, including overnight travel.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Develop and maintain relationships with wind carriers so projects can be effectively executed.
  2. Negotiate with carriers to maintain a margin and service level that is expected with this type of business.
  3. Prepare for planning meetings and be ready to have detailed information about the logistics trucks that work on these projects.
  4. Track outside carrier equipment to ensure the maximum utilization of that equipment.
  5. Interact timely and effectively with Project Manager and Project Resources Manager to ensure project execution is going smoothly and collaborate if changes are needed.
  6. Determine specific equipment to be used based on the project specifications and requirements.
  7. Collaborate with Safety Manager to ensure outside carriers follow commodity specific processes and procedures.
  8. Maintain a list of drivers with their specific capabilities and a list of carriers with their specific equipment.
  9. Investigate and collaborate with others to resolve issues.

  11. Position may require work responsibilities outside of normal business hours and infrequent travel may be required.
