Summary

The responsibility of the Inside Sales/Regional Accounts Representative is to strengthen and enhance the growth and stability of ATS by implementing sound marketing and customer service principles to develop and service customers in accordance with company and department quality, sales, utilization, and profit objectives, and serving as liaison between the customer and ATS operations

 

Education and Experience

  1. A good understanding of marketing, sales, and customer service principles usually gained through 1 - 2 years of training in related area and/or equivalent related experience. 
  2. Must have excellent interpersonal, analytical, customer relations, sales, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
  3. Must have general knowledge of U.S. geography and basic map-reading skills.
  4. Must be able to operate basic office machines including telephone, 10-key, and Personal Computer.
  5. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) required.
  6. Excellent communication skills (written, listening and verbal).
  7. Must be self-motivated, able to multi-task and work independently.
  8. Must be a team player, amenable to a variety of work projects.
  9.  Must be analytical with the ability to apply data.
  10. Must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  11. Must be proficient in responding to internal and external customer situations, responding to customer needs as required.
  12. Must be able to both think creatively and provide creative contributions to projects.
  13. Willing and able to travel infrequently, including overnight travel.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Promote and sell ATS service to active, inactive, and potential customers in accordance with company and department quality, sales, utilization, and profit objectives.
  2. Contact active, inactive, and potential customers to sell ATS service to them through inside sales efforts (i.e., telemarketing, e-mail).
  3. Respond to customers' requests for service, providing information, entering load information into computerized system, and negotiating terms and conditions of sales (i.e., rates, credit, special instructions).
  4. Qualify new customers by matching ATS and customer needs (geographic, products, objectives, etc.).
  5. Maintain accurate records, research and develop accounts, and reports on account activity.
  6. Communicate with the ATS leadership and regional account managers to assess and distribute current information on the development and needs of customers.
  7. Provide professional, courteous customer service by serving as liaison between customers and ATS operations.
  8. Assign all inbound trucks in accordance with company and department quality, utilization, driver retention, and profit objectives, matching the needs, qualifications, and availability of customers, drivers, and equipment, and coordinating the balance of unassigned freight with Sureway Transportation.
  9. Communicate current customer needs with operations staff and obtaining pick-up/delivery directions as needed.
  10. Obtain credit approval on customers' loads by verifying current credit status, working with the Credit Department, and making C.O.D. arrangements as needed.
  11. Communicate with customers and ATS personnel to answer questions, and investigate/resolve problems as needed.
  12. Participate in departmental and individual goal-setting and achievement.

  14. Position may require work responsibilities outside of normal business hours and infrequent travel may be required.
