The Operations Manager is key resource for ATS Specialized Operations Staff by planning, directing, and controlling operational functions,supervising, and coordinating the activities of company employees and guiding quality, efficiency, and productivity improvement efforts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Plans, directs, and controls operational functions of ATS Specialized, Inc.

    1. Actively engaging in customer and business relations including but not limited to settlements, maintenance, safety, claims and Competitive Leasing operational efforts

    2. Manages fleet productivity by tracking critical performance indicators

      1. Recommends and implements appropriate plans for improvement

    3. Assists Fleet Managers with drivers’ day-to-day personal, financial, productivity, training, and service needs, reviewing and reconciling related reports.

      1. Proactively resolving and minimizing problems as related to driver retention and assisting with and/or handling counseling, training, communication, discipline, and terminations as needed.  Creates and maintains strong driver/operational relationships and active in conflict management/resolution on an on-going basis

    4. Assists Fleet Managers with safety or DOT-regulated issues including drug tests, log hours, and other safety –related matters, providing direction and ensuring scheduled completion and/or resolution

  2. Establishes and executes operating budget and strategic plan, ensuring that all company and department goals are met

  3. Continuously seeks to improve departmental quality, efficiency, and productivity standards

    1. Creates updates and/or revises company processes, tools, and resources, etc.

  4. Supervises and coordinates activities of operations employees

    1. Hires, disciplines, and terminates employees

    2. Monitors employees performance, prepares and conducts employee performance appraisals, recommends promotions, salary adjustments, and offers assistance and direction when needed

    3. Assigns, schedules, and reviews work, ensuring that all areas are adequately covered

    4. Establishes goals and work standards

    5. Administers company policies and procedures

      Education and Experience

      To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  5. Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university; or 3-5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in the transportation industry

  6. Firm understanding of the commercial transportation industry with a strong working knowledge of operations, logistics and transportation principles

  7. Must actively support corporate values, and demonstrate a proactive commitment to the success of all staff.

  8. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) required.

  9. Self motivated, financially driven, results oriented to maximize every aspect of our business.
